The Old Bullmastiff (Ch-4)

 What he entered was an average-looking 1BHk flat on a silent street. He was warmly welcomed by an oldish-looking fellow who looked thirsty but continued to wag his tail. “Yeh my boy, I am back. Did you have anything yet?” He asked, checking his bowl, which was clean as new. It seemed that his friend really enjoyed his lunch. As he entered, he saw a photo lying on his desk. Thick black hair with capturing eyes. Anyone who saw him looking at the photo could have noticed the look of sadness and affection. But this looked like a daily routine as he quickly got back to his chores, and went to take a bath. Having said that, his face still had that look as if something important was missing from his life. He came back, changed and sat on the couch after making some tea. “Aaah!” he screamed silently. “What does he even think of us? Going on shouting the whole day at us while he keeps lying on that chair like an old fat dog,” he said, shifting his focus back to the laptop screen.  “Oh, don’t mind him. You know he has been like this ever since he became manager. Being bossy all the time, when he can’t do hell.” said someone, someone he knew. She had skin, white as if there was continuous snowfall on her arm. She had elegant looks but was also known as the troublemaker at the office because of her carefree attitude. If nothing, she was on his side. “Anyways, let me complete this file, else he won’t let me go back today,” he said, as the sound of the tapping keys became even more prominent.  It took him another 5 good hours and 4 cups of tea to finally see the blue screen on his laptop say, “Shutting down,” but that was not before when the clock in the office had already struck forty-seven past 10. His only companions were a few mosquitoes buzzing...
